Dharma Consulting LLC
Privacy Policy
Last updated: May, 2026
In plain language:
We collect what we need to run our courses, keep your data secure, and don’t sell it to anyone. We respect your privacy because it matters — both legally and as a value of our practice.
1. Who We Are
Dharma Consulting LLC (“we,” “us,” “Dharma”) is a continuing education provider based in Salem, Oregon. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website or take our courses, and what we do with it.
2. What We Collect
Information you give us:
- Account details — name, email address, password (encrypted), and any optional profile information you provide
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We see only the last 4 digits of your card and the transaction confirmation; we never see or store your full card number.
- Course work — quiz answers, reflection responses, and any other content you submit through your courses
- Communications — emails or messages you send us
Information collected automatically:
- Course progress — which lessons you’ve completed, quiz scores, time stamps
- Technical information — your IP address, browser type, device type, and similar standard data
- Cookies — small files our website uses to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (more below)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use what we collect to:
- Provide and improve our courses
- Track your progress and issue your CEU certificates
- Process payments
- Communicate with you about your account, courses, and updates
- Send occasional emails about new courses or offerings (you can unsubscribe anytime)
- Comply with legal obligations, grant reporting, or recordkeeping requirements
4. What We Don’t Do
- We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not share your individual reflection or quiz responses with anyone outside Dharma Consulting unless you give us permission, except in very limited cases described below.
5. Who We Share Information With
We share information only when needed to run the business or as required by law:
- Service providers we use — like Stripe (payment processing), our LearnDash platform host, and our email service. These providers handle data only as needed to provide their service and are required to protect your information.
- Grant funders (when applicable) — if your course was funded by a grant (such as Future Ready Oregon), we may need to report basic completion data (e.g., number of completions) to the funder. We share aggregated data wherever possible and only share individual data when specifically required by the grant.
- Legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by law (court order, subpoena), or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Mandatory reporting — if information shared in coursework reveals a serious safety concern (e.g., disclosure of imminent harm to self or others), Oregon law may require us to report. We discuss the limits of confidentiality with all participants.
6. How We Protect Your Information
We use reasonable industry standards to protect your data:
- SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmitted to and from our site
- Encrypted password storage
- Access to your information is limited to staff who need it
- Regular security updates to our platforms
No system is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your data. If a data breach affects your information, we’ll notify you as required by Oregon law.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
- Course records and CEU certificates: Up to 7 years (to support your future verification needs)
- Account information: Until you ask us to delete it, or your account becomes inactive for an extended period
- Financial records: As required by tax law (typically 7 years)
- Email subscription: Until you unsubscribe
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — see what information we have about you
- Correct — update or fix inaccurate information
- Delete — request that we delete your information (subject to legal and recordkeeping obligations)
- Opt out of marketing — unsubscribe from non-essential emails anytime
- Receive your data — request a copy of the data we have on you
To exercise any of these rights, email us at curious@findingdharma.org. We’ll respond within 30 days.
9. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses cookies for:
- Essential functions — keeping you logged in, remembering your course progress
- Basic analytics — understanding how people use the site (aggregated, not individual)
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some site features may not work without them. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our courses are designed for adults (18+). We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you by email or post a notice on the site. The “Last updated” date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
